Can Any of You by Worrying Add a Single Hour to Your Life?

“Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” — Jesus, Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 6:27)

I first came across this quote while watching The Chosen, a show that made me more curious about the teachings of Jesus and message of the Bible. And now I come back to this verse often. Not because I've mastered it, but because I need it to remind myself to worry less.

I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I worry a lot, about saying the wrong thing, forgetting something important, money, performance. Sometimes is a subtle thought, sometimes it takes all my attention away.

But hearing this quote caught me by suprise. It gave me so much to reflect on. Worry is NOT the same as preparation. It's fear disguised as control.

Worry won't buy me more time or make me feel ready. It won't make me a better person, especially not for those around me.
