Easy-Peel Hard-Boiled Eggs

Two simple methods for hard-boiled eggs that peel cleanly right away.

Ingredients

  • 1 to 6 large fresh eggs
  • Cold tap water, for cooking and cooling
  • Ice cubes, optional for the stovetop method

Tools Needed

Chefman Electric Egg Cooker Method

  • Chefman Electric Egg Cooker with tray, lid, and measuring cup pin
  • Medium bowl

Traditional Stovetop Method

  • Medium saucepan or pot
  • Clean push-pin or thumb-tack
  • Medium bowl
  • Slotted spoon

Instructions

Method 1: Chefman Electric Egg Cooker

Method 2: Traditional Stovetop

Notes

  • Poking the wide end helps release pressure and makes peeling easier.
  • Peel the eggs right after chilling, while the membrane has loosened from the shell.
  • Running water helps separate stubborn bits of shell from the egg white.

Time

  • Chefman method: About 15 minutes total, depending on the cooker cycle
  • Stovetop method: About 20 minutes total

Servings

Makes 1 to 6 hard-boiled eggs.
